Featured Mission of the Month: Hurricanes Harvey and Irma Relief

First United Methodist Church supports 19 local and international missions through the FUMC missions budget. One of these organizations is featured each month.

The news about Hurricanes Harvey and Irma is heartbreaking. These massive storms have created havoc and devastation on the Gulf and Florida Coasts which will linger for years. The United Methodist Church is there, working with local and state emergency management, FEMA and other volunteers active in disaster. We invite you to stand with our neighbors on the Gulf  and Florida Coasts during this time. Your gifts ensure that our church will provide help and hope for those left homeless or otherwise affected by this disaster for years to come.

To contribute to relief efforts by the WNC Conference, please write your check payable to FUMC with “Harvey” in the memo line, and mail to First United Methodist Church, 204 6th Avenue West, Hendersonville NC 28739. You can also contribute directly to the Conference’s Disaster Response by clicking here or text FUMCHVL to 73256 and follow directions to select Hurricane Relief from the pull down menu.

Our Mission Council has approved a Meals4Missions grant for $1,000 to provide hygiene kits and cleaning buckets through a church-wide effort which will involve several volunteers. Let us know if you would like to co-lead or serve as a volunteer by sending an email to harveyfumchvl@gmail.com.
