Featured Mission Partner of the Month: Bruce Drysdale School
First United Methodist Church supports 19 local and international missions through the FUMC missions budget. One of these organizations is featured each month.
Bruce Drysdale School neighbors our church in downtown Hendersonville, NC.
With an enrollment of 469 students in grades K thru 5, the school offers both Traditional and Spanish Immersion classrooms. Members of our church provide food to 180 students each weekend through our Back Pack Program and sponsor Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Our members serve as leaders of the PTO, classroom and substitute teachers and volunteers. Our community garden, Rooted in Faith, also partners with third grade teachers and classes to provide hands-on gardening experiences.
BDS was the recipient of a FUMC 2017-18 matching grant of $8,500 to provide Chromebook computers for 30 third graders. The school has raised $2,000 of the match so far and still needs individuals, local businesses and organizations to contribute the remaining matching funds for another 30 Chromebooks. Please contact BDS principal BJ Laughter at 828-697-5568 or email@example.com if you would like to help.
